Award-Winning Pastry Chef Fabio Bardi Opens Sugar Daddy in Wan Chai This August

Award-winning pastry chef Fabio Bardi is bringing Italian flavours to Wan Chai this August with the opening of Sugar Daddy, a new café dedicated to lower-sugar pastries, premium gelato, and quality coffee. Combining classic Italian flavours with Hong Kong energy, the café will put a playful spin on traditional pastries without taking itself too seriously.
To be located on the ground floor of Fu Tung Building, Sugar Daddy will serve freshly baked cornetti, Fabio's signature maritozzi, piccola pasticceria, artisan gelato, and premium Italian coffee. The thoughtful menu will focus on lighter indulgences, using lower-sugar recipes, natural ingredients, and no artificial additives. Vegan, dairy-free, and sugar-free options will also be available, giving guests plenty of choices!
On a journey that has taken him through some of the world’s most celebrated pastry kitchens, Fabio Bardi has refined his craft from San Domenico in New York and Ladurée in Paris, to Hong Kong favourites 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel and ESTRO, as well as opening and leading the direction of Tozzo. His expertise was aptly recognised when named Best Pastry Chef at the 2024 Tatler Dining Awards Hong Kong and Macau, and Sugar Daddy marks the next step: his first independent concept celebrating his Italian roots.
Describing the café as "my love letter to Italian pastry culture, but with Hong Kong energy," Fabio says he wanted to create something "luxurious but not serious, indulgent but not heavy." With a playful concept and refined approach to Italian classics, Sugar Daddy is going to become the new go-to for pastries, gelato, and coffee in Wan Chai. The café is expected to open in August 2026, with the official opening date to be announced soon, and we couldn't be more excited!
