Sick! Burger has been gathering some serious buzz, so we headed to their Causeway Bay location to see if the hype holds up! Saucy arrived at the Causeway Bay Sick! Burger branch at 3pm on a sunny Sunday and found a line of hungry folk waiting for their smash burger fix. The first thing we noticed was the mix of people in the queue; families, couples and even chefs on their break. We loved seeing the mixed crowd that Sick! Burger attracts, and it gave us a good indication of what was to come. We swiftly joined the line and waited for our turn. When it was time to head inside, we stepped into a retro space that gave us an instant hit of nostalgia, and the aromas drifting from the open kitchen were even more inviting. We enjoyed watching the action unfold and seeing the care that goes into every burger, side dish and drink. We ordered with anticipation, and when our number was called, it came straight from Chef Lai himself.

We went for two combos. The first was the Sick! Chicken Burger (HKD$75). The chicken is marinated in masala and buttermilk, then deep-fried until crisp and golden. Layered with coleslaw, shiso leaf, lemon zest, red onion relish and Caesar sauce, every bite hits with serious umami. The One Bite Chicken (+HKD$36) delivered exactly what the name promises: perfectly portioned pieces of juicy, crispy chicken served with a lime wedge, giving a bright citrus lift to the spicy batter. The Taro Sick! Shake (+HKD$52) was completely over the top in the best way possible. Taro mochi, caramel crunch, taro powder, fresh cream and Vitamilk blend into something thick, creamy and wildly satisfying. The flavours are bold and clear, while the mochi and crunchy pieces add a playful contrast in texture, making it truly unforgettable. Having said that, it is rather filling and we suggest sharing one shake and a fizzy drink between two.

The second combo was the Signature Sick! Burger with two naughty patties (HKD$125), Salty Egg French Fries (+HKD44) and the Ovaltine and Choco Sick! Shake (+HKD52). The burger was stacked with a sunny-side-up fried egg, bacon, fresh tomato, sliced onion, two Angus beef patties, lettuce, cheddar, house sauce, yuzu and a mix of onion relish and caramelised onion. The ingredients speak for themselves - this is smashed burger heaven. The salty egg fries were crunchy with a satisfying hit of creamy and salty seasoning. The shake, blended with Ovaltine and chocolate, topped with cream and soft pieces of marshmallow, creates the ultimate cheeky treat.

Saucy Says: "Overall, we think Sick! Burger is well worth the hype it has attracted. It is the kind of place that keeps things simple yet pours real heart into their craft, and that combination is exactly why people keep coming back. They have opened in three locations in the space of just a few years, which speaks volumes. Very much saucy approved."
