From tried-and-true favourites like lotus seed paste and custard to playful new flavours and gift boxes almost too pretty to open (and definitely too pretty to throw away), there's a lot to get excited about. Michelin-recommended Shanghainese restaurant The Merchants brings their sophisticated twist to Mid-Autumn gifting with two very thoughtfully curated mooncake and tea sets. The Classic Mooncakes & Tea Set (early bird pricing at HKD$312, regular at HKD$368) features four traditional flavours, each matched with a premium Chinese tea to complement its flavour profile: Red Bean paired with Osmanthus Oolong, Jujube Paste paired with Tangerine Peel White Tea, Salt & Pepper (Black Sesame) paired with Pu'er, and Seaweed paired with Longjing. For those who prefer something more savoury, the Savoury Mooncakes & Tea Set (early bird pricing at HKD$338, regular at HKD$398) showcases the restaurant's signature Shanghai-style pork mooncake, paired alongside earthy Pu'er tea. Making its Mid-Autumn debut this year, nana's green tea is putting a Japanese spin on the traditional mooncake with its beautifully packaged Mid-Autumn Collection Gift Box.
