If you’re looking for a great date night spot in Central Hong Kong, Frank’s might already be on your list for drinks, but not enough people are talking about the restaurant upstairs. Tucked above the lively bar, Frank’s dining room offers a more intimate and cosy setting without feeling pretentious. A place that’s perfect for date night in Central, with warm and welcoming service, a vinyl player spinning in the background that adds a nostalgic touch to the experience, and dim lights that set the mood.

The menu focuses on American-Italian comfort food, done well and designed for sharing. We started with their Tagliere della Casa (HKD$268), a mixed salumi board featuring culatta, finocchiona, mortadella and coppa. The colds cuts together with the fried pockets of bread were incredible. The Battuta al Midollo (HKD$238), chopped raw beef with bone marrow and anchovy mayo, indulgently rich with the marrow adding a silky depth that melts into the meat, while the Peperoni alle Acciughe (HKD$158) paired roasted peppers with anchovies, bottarga and burrata for a bold, savoury bite, with the slightest hint of heat. The Polpette di Vitello (HKD$118), a giant veal meatball in a typical red sauce, delivered classic comfort with great flavour.

Pasta was the highlight of the evening, and Frank’s is easily one of the best spots in Central Hong Kong to indulge, both in flavour and value. The Rigatoni alla Vodka (HKD$178) was creamy and zingy with the perfect touch of chilli, the Ditali al Tartufo (HKD$218), finished piping hot in a magnificent cheesewheel with fresh black truffle shaved on top, was unapologetically rich and unbelievably delicious, and the Raviolo special (new seasonal menu item) with cacio e pepe and green pea crema added a lighter contrast without skipping on flavour,

For mains, the Stracotto della Nonna (HKD$278), a slow-braised and tender beef stew, was hearty and comforting, especially when paired with Patatine, their hand-cut fries. To end the meal, Chef Filippo Bencini prepared their signature tiramisu table side, adding that special touch of theatre that makes Frank’s stand out from other Italian restaurants in Central.

Although the meal ended, the night didn’t. We headed upstairs to their lounge and terrace, and yes, there’s more. The energy carries on, if anything, it doubles. Inside, it’s a cool, intimate space for expertly-made cocktails and even a live DJ playing tunes upon tunes, while just above, a hidden rooftop terrace opens up to city views and fresh air.

Saucy Says: “For an intimate date night or cosy dinner with friends, head to Frank’s for comforting American-Italian dishes. Their pasta is a must-try, pair it with a glass of wine that they suggest you pair with - you won’t regret it. Then make your way upstairs for even more magic, great music, cocktails and unmatched vibes.”
